Services
The morning service in St Nicholas Buccleuch takes place at 11 a.m.
The Morning service follows a fairly traditional Church of Scotland liturgical pattern with strong ecumenical influences. The minister will normally preach a sermon and the praise will be hymns chosen from the Church Hymnary (4th edition), led by the organist, who will also play appropriate music before, during and after the service.
Tea and Coffee are served after the service in the Coffee Shop.
From time to time, there will be additional services, often focussing on a particular matter of concern at different times on a Sunday. Please see the diary page.
The Sacrament of Baptism is administered, upon request. People of any age are eligible for baptism. Parents, in bringing their children for baptism, will be asked to make promises to bring their children up within the fellowship of the church. Adults, in presenting for baptism, will be expected to make a commitment to attend and be involved in the life of the church. Baptism is administered by sprinkling a little water on the forehead.
The Sacrament of Communion is celebrated on Easter Sunday, on Christmas Day and normally on the first Sunday of May and November. (Some variation to the pattern may occur to accommodate Easter.) Everyone, no matter what Christian tradition they come from, or even if they do not identify with any particular tradition, is welcome to join in Communion. Non-alcoholic wine in individual glasses. Children are welcome at every celebration of Communion. Home communions are also available by arrangement with the minister.
Weddings
Members of the congregation and those resident within the parish are welcome to get married in St Nicholas Buccleuch. Only in very exceptional circumstances is it possible to arrange for a wedding to be conducted outwith the church. If you are planning a wedding, arrange to see the minister as soon as possible, and before you have fixed on a date or made any other bookings.
